Ingredients
Serves 4 persons
4 Pork chop
Salt & pepper to taste
2 Apples
2 cloves of garlic
1 sprig of thyme
1 glass of white wine
1 cup of gravy or sauce
Method
- Lay the pork chops on the board & season both sides with salt & pepper.
- Rub with the chopped garlic.
- Core the apples & cut in half, bake for 1 hour at a low temperature (140C) in an oven with a splash of white wine and the thyme.
- Pan fry the pork chops on both sides over a very high heat until well coloured and place in a baking tray that they fit side by side tightly.
- Add the apple, juice from the apple pan & the thyme.
- Pour in the wine and bake in the oven at 180C for 10 minutes, take one out & cut it open to see if it is cooked. Put it back in for a further 5 minutes if it is not cooked.
- Remove the cutlets & the apple from the tray & keep warm.
- Add the gravy and simmer until the sauce reaches the requied consistency.
- Arrange on plates (using the thyme to garnish), and drizzle with the sauce.
Note
This goes very well with mashed potatoes & braised red cabbage.
